A tribal bodo weave from Assam, India in a jet black body embellished with the japi ( conical hat used by the tribal men) motifs  in bright yellow and deep cyan all over. The border is woven in deep cyan with bright yellow selvedge.

 


In the villages of Chirang district, Assam, every home of the Bodo community has a loom mostly run by women. In the bodo community, weaving is considered as a highly valued skill in women. This particular weave comes directly from one of those looms.

  • Some of our sarees/fabrics use natural dyes which may rub off / bleed initially, though the colors will settle in after a couple of dry washes.

    Most of our sarees are handwoven and there might be slight weaving irregularities expected as part of the weaving process. These imperfections add to the unique charm of the saree.
